About the Program
The Volunteer Development Program is a volunteer recruitment and development program geared to assisting Nokee Kwe in realizing it full potential as a Voluntary Sector, Charitable organization and as a response to fulfilling a key aspect of our strategic plan, that is, to continue in the establishment of Nokee Kwe as a leader in the provision of training opportunities for the community as well as unemployed individuals.

The broader outcome of the Volunteer Development Program is to assist Nokee Kwe in building and developing its volunteer capabilities and capacity. As a charitable organization that is managed by a volunteer Board, the need to constantly replenish and develop the Board, and to provide volunteer opportunities to the community is key to ensuring a healthy, sustainable organization.

The Volunteer Development Program is designed to achieve the following outcomes:

  • To establish Nokee Kwe as a leader in the provision of training opportunities for unemployed individuals
  • To increase the number of Policy and Program volunteers involved at Nokee Kwe
  • To provide an opportunity for volunteers to increase their skills and abilities by the delivery of service to the community
  • To organize co-op placements and a process for liaising with High Schools, Community Colleges, Universities and other community-based organizations involved in voluntary action
  • To broaden the volunteers' skills and understanding of how volunteers fit into a charitable organization and its structures
  • To provide training and orientation to volunteers that will enable them to be better advocates to their community
  • To involve more First Nations individuals into the volunteer life of Nokee Kwe.
